Calf Purchase Option

We want to produce cattle that are among the elite for calving ease and profitability at weaning and yearling ages. Conventional wisdom is that a breeder must choose between pre-weaning (pounds) or post-weaning performance (pounds and carcass). We have found that this is not the case, and in fact the same cattle can often excel relative to their peers both prior to and after weaning.

We know the power of using the right genetics because we experience it in our own commercial herd. We also know that while some producers participate in retaining ownership of yearlings through processing, many producers prefer to market their cattle at weaning. This is why Our Program is designed to maximize profitability at weaning and enable the user of Daltons on the Sycamore genetics to attract premium interest for weaned feeder calves due to their predictability as high-performance fed cattle.

We actively buy weaned feeder cattle (steers and heifers) sired by Daltons on the Sycamore bulls and would like to buy yours too if you are a customer of ours. We are proud associates of U. S. Premium Beef and have relationships with feedlots in the plains states that deliver cattle to National Beef.

We typically like to purchase the animals outright, take delivery and assume ownership through the back grounding, feeding and processing phases. However, we will gladly share the individual animal grid results with our customers so they can utilize such information in future genetic and marketing decisions.

Given that we actively retain ownership of our own cattle and also are members of U. S. Premium Beef, we will gladly provide a market for animals that descend from our high quality, value-added genetics. For the cow-calf producer who does not desire to retain ownership but does desire the carcass data we think our Calf Purchase Option and the genetic advantage resulting from Our Program present a compelling value proposition.

If this interests you contact us and we will give you a bid. All things being equal in terms of market price, the option to receive kill data can be a powerful tool to herd improvement and profitability.
